I can't put music on my Samsung S3/YP-S3 device. I have read the installation guide, but when I look at the picture it has a portable sing along with CD, My PC and DataCasts, but mine is grey. What can I do?

D
Answer by Dan Angel

The portable sign/icon is grey because the software is not recognizing your device. In order to fix the issue, press Windows + R key combination, type devmgmt.msc and click OK. Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers list, right-click on the driver and select Uninstall. Reboot the PC, connect the Samsung device using the USB cable and press Scan for hardware changes icon from Device Manager. If you still have issues, I suggest you download and install the latest version of Samsung Media Studio from Samsung Download Center. Scroll down to Support section and click the Multimedia Studio button. If you still have problems, you can use 800-7267864 phone number to get in touch with the support team.

Alternatively, you can transfer the music files by using copy/paste feature. Right-click the files you want to transfer, press copy, connect the device to your computer, open its drive from My Computer/Computer and paste the songs.

Since the application is free of charge, I suggest you to download and install its latest version. You can visit Software Informer review page of the product in order to obtain a link to the official download. Press the green Download button, save the file to your computer and install the utility following the provided steps. Be sure that your computer runs Windows Vista or below, because the program is incompatible with the latest operating systems.

My MP3 Player has been working perfectly for over a year. The other night when I plugged the player in to charge, it displayed "USB connected" and it worked to charge, but my computer has not detected that the player is plugged in, and Samsung Media Studio does not allow me to transfer songs to it (or even click the "Portable" button). Also, Windows Media Player 10/11 is not detecting it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Samsung Media Studio several times and used different USB ports on my PC without success. Can you help me?

Samsung Media Studio and Emodio are the only two applications for Samsung media players. Both of them can run only on a Windows 2000, Windows XP or a Windows Vista computer. You can download and install the applications from the Samsung official web page. To run them on Windows 7 you can try to download and install Windows XP Mode and install the application in this environment. Windows XP Mode makes it easy to install and run many applications that run on Windows XP directly on a computer that runs Windows 7.

My MP4 Player is locked and I can see only the screen. I have not checked anything. It is set to hold. What can I do?

Answer by Pete Clapp

In order to fix the issues, I suggest you reset your player. Navigate to Samsung Support page, identify your MP4 Player model and check where is the reset button location or what is the buttons combination used to reset the device. For some MP4 devices, you will need only to remove the battery.

There are two official programs compatible with your device: Multi Media Studio and Emodio. From what it seems, your program is not developed for YP-S3J MP3 Players and I suggest you uninstall it:

If you use Windows XP or below, you can go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs. In the Currently installed programs box, click on the program and then click Remove.
If you have Windows Vista or above, you need to go to Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features. Select the application and click on Uninstall.

After that, go to official web page, click the Software tab, press the button below the File option, save it to your computer and install the application following the provided instructions. If it is still not recognized, right-click the Computer icon, select Manage and go to Device Manager. Right-click the driver from Universal Serial Bus controllers section and click Uninstall. Restart your computer, plug in the device using the USB cable and click the Scan for hardware changes icon from Device Manager. Windows will automatically find and install the drivers for your player.
